Have a look at your children for a moment, do you notice how your baby keeps reaching these gorgeous little milestones, or how your one year old gets frustrated when his hands can’t quite do yet what his little mind wants them to do, or how your four year old keeps counting to 20 then asking what comes next. Ask yourself for a moment, what comes next for you? Well what does come next, the answer is usually bring in the washing, start the dishwasher, make school lunches, bath the kids, clean up the breakfast dishes, take the bins out and feed the damn rabbits that I never wanted in the first place! That’s enough to make anyone’s brain slowly turn to mash potato, you need to challenge yourself, you need to think outside the square for this one.
It’s human nature to strive for better, it’s how we got to the top of the food chain, unfortunately it’s also human nature to become content in a certain situations. Never stop striving to achieve new things in your life. Do not allow yourself to get stuck in a rut until the kids go to school, that is a good 5 of your best years wasted. Amongst nappies, baby panadol and dishes you obviously can’t have an amazing day everyday it just means now you have to plan them a little better.
Today’s challenge is to grab a piece of paper and a pen and write a to do list. Five things you are challenging yourself to do this year, make it achievable otherwise it will have the complete opposite effect! You probably can’t go to Paris next week but there is no reason you can’t go there in November say! Have a think about something’s you’ve wanted to do but talk yourself out of, get them out of the impossible box and get them on the list. Above is my list, now it’s really out there I will really have to do it, sometimes that’s a great way to get you to stick to something, is to tell people about it, then they will encourage you and often remind you of it. Stick the list somewhere where you will see it everyday, fridge, bathroom mirror and start making plans to live your list.
