It is all too easy to let yourself go when you are a Mum, who cares if your legs are hairy they are hidden under your trackies anyway? Who cares if your regrowth is bad and you can’t remember the last time you had your hair cut, or your eyebrows look like two giant caterpillars who now live on your face? You should, you used to so why don’t you now? I know it’s all too hard, it’s just another thing on your to-do list right? However it will make such a big difference with the way you feel about yourself.
If you look scruffy you will feel scruffy on the inside, if you look good you will feel good on the inside and that’s where it matters most. So today’s challenge is to make sometime during the day to get your awesome back by doing a few simple things that you have been neglecting for too long. Today’s challenge is to get grooming!
Things That Can Be Done From Home:
Legs: Take a longer shower than normal and shave those once sexy legs. I don’t care if it’s winter it will make you feel so much better. Fix your arm pits up while you are at it.
Hands: Sit down with a nail file and fix your chipped flaking nails, just make them neat and short and finish them off with clear nail polish. Don’t waste time with colour it just chips and needs to be touched up, clear will make your hands look a million bucks! Finish with some nice hand cream.
Hair and Skin: Next time you duck in to Coles to buy nappies grab a Nice and Easy Home Colour and fix your roots up they have one that only take 10 minutes. Also grab an at home facial sachet and while bug-a-lugs is asleep treat your skin.
Things To Get Done While At The Shops:
Most shopping centres now have nail bars where for $25 you can have your finger nails or toes done, I love getting my toes done pink.
Also popping up in the shops are those little massage places where for $10 you can get your neck or back done and you get to keep all your clothes on!
When Was The Last Time You Visited The Salon:
Book yourself in to get your eyebrows shaped, have you ever had your eyelashes tinted makes a huge difference and means no more mascara.
Why not indulge yourself with a facial, or a massage, I know I’m not a massage person either but I love a good facial.
Waxing have you ever gone there, can’t say too much as my Mum and M-I-L read this but you’ll thank me, enough said!!!
(Yes I have done all of the above with a toddler sitting in the pram next to me eating snacks!) stop making excuses!
All the things above can be done either at home or at the Salon, don’t be lazy and start to make more of an effort with yourself. You are not doing this for your man, or anyone else you are doing this for you. You have to feel good about yourself, that doesn’t happen automatically you have to put things in place for it to happen and here is a good start. If you were to spend sometime today on yourself fixing a few things you know you have been neglecting for way too long, by bed time you will have a new lease on life and you will feel great on the inside and that’s the bit we are working on here.

I just did this recently. Took myself off to get my eyebrows waxed, it had been ages and got myself that hair cut I have been wanting for ages. Chopped my hair short and I love it. After I had it done I was wondering why I left it so long! I think we feel guilty if we spend some money or time on ourselves but boy does it make a huge difference when we get a little pampering done. N x

The outside makes a big difference to the inside! So worth the effort. R

I have noticed recently that my “mummy maintenance” is being left behind. so thankfully this weekend is a long weekend and I will get a chance to catch up on some of these things. I have had the box of DIY hair dye sitting in the bathroom for nearly a month. I am sure that I will feel much better after it.

Shelley that’s funny! The last time I bought a Better Homes and Gardens mag it sat in my bedroom for a month before I got to it, so I totally get it! Now get of the computer and get your awesome back! R
