DID YOU KNOW COCONUT OIL IS ONE OF THE HEALTHIEST OILS READ MORE TO FIND OUT WHY
Coconut had a bad reputation for a while there as it was considered high in fat and not a great choice when you had other oils such as Olive Oil to use. However Coconut oil contains short term medium-chain saturated fatty acids (MCFAs), which is a “healthy” saturated fat compared to trans fat. By consuming MCFA fats in Coconut oil means for your body metabolises these fats in the Liver, immediately coverting this into energy (fuel for the brain and muscle function) rather than it being stored as fat! Score!
5 GREAT REASONS TO ADD COCONUT OIL TO YOUR DIET
IMMUNITY. Coconut oil contains antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral properties to boost the immune system.
METABOLISIM. Coconut oil boosts metabolisim.
AID WEIGHT LOSS. Coconut oil protects against insulin resistance, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes. MCFA fats are small enough to be absorbed into the cells where they’re quickly converted to energy. It is this process that not only reduces the amount of fat we pack into storage(our butt), but improves insulin sensitivity.
DIGESTIVE. Coconut oil has been found to benefit digestive disorders including irritable bowel syndrome and microbial related tummy bugs.
COOKING. Because coconut oil is a MCFA, it gives it a higher smoking temperature than most polyunsaturated or monounsaturated oils.
SKIN CARE. Hydrating for skin as it keeps the skin’s connective tissues strong, which prevents sagging and wrinkles.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
How do you use it, I have a teaspoon each morning from the jar after breakfast, it tastes delicious. Also love to dip a teaspoon into the jar then stir your tea/coffee tastes amazing. I use the spray in place of any other oils I’ve used in the past with baking, any cooking etc.
WHAT TO BUY & WHERE?
Look for Coconut oil that is organic, unrefined, undeodorised, and cold pressed. It’s also good to use one that is in a glass jar rather than plastic. I use a brand called Melrose which is from Coles and a spray for cooking ProChef also from Coles.
