The school holiday adventures continue, this is the first school holidays for over a year and a half that my husband has actually been home so we have been trying to squeeze heaps of fun in. This time we went on safari to the African Plains, well ok not really but it felt like it! We went to a wild life park Zoo where they have African animals walking around freely as apposed to a normal Zoo where the animals are kept in some kind of cement enclosure.
It was quite a warm day this I maybe didn’t take in to consideration as much as I should have. Me being me chose the walking tracks instead of the bus, and as it was so hot we all burnt out quicker than the bus hoppers. We very quickly became bus hoppers but even that wasn’t as smooth as they advertise it. The deal is you wait at the bus stop and jump on and are driven around the park, the problem with that is if people don’t get off at the bus stops then no one else can get on and that was how it went. The buses were full and people didn’t want to get off which meant we couldn’t get on the bus even after waiting in the sun for 20 minutes. This just meant we missed out on seeing the Lions and Cheaters but the rest of the Zoo was great.
So it always pays on day trips to pack a day bag with a water bottle for everyone, some snacks and lollies, sunscreen and a hat for everyone that way no one gets dehydrated or burnt. The kids had a great time they did well in the heat and were over the moon seeing Giraffe’s, Ostrich’s, Rhino’s, Chimpanzee’s, Meerkat’s, and Zebra’s. Overall it was a good day, a bit expensive the kind of thing you would only do once a year, the kids had a great time and haven’t stopped talking about it.
