Today was Mother’s Day in our house! Yep we do things a little different around here, it’s sometimes the only way. My husband showed up home for a surprise Mother’s Day visit, popped in, mucked up my routine and popped back off to save the world! Just kidding it was a nice surprise and the kids loved waking up to a visitor in the house! So I had a rough night, he got in at midnight, I had to rescue my one year old from a cot full of vomit at 2am, then I was woken up at 8am for an early Mother’s Day breakfast in bed and presents, lovely but god sleep would have been so much better!
I got flowers, chocolates, lots of bulbs to plant in the garden for spring, vegemite toast and a cup of tea in a new super mum cup! It was lovely to be loved by the little people, showered with handmade cards and kisses. It’s funny after all the love had worn off and everyone had gone their separate ways I was left to clean up the wrapping paper, eaten chocolate wrappers and do my own dishes!!
Tomorrow morning will not be as cosy, as I am running in the Mother’s Day Classic 7.5km Fun Run in the city at 8:20am which means for us country bumpkins an early start. I am dragging my poor sister along to stay with the kids while I do the run with my baby sister-in-law on her first Mother’s Day. The run is to raise money for Breast Cancer research, so far I have raised $350 thanks to my generous friends and family. With no research there is no cure, with no fundraising there is no research. If you would like to sponsor me please see this link, even $5 or $10 can help.

Well wish me luck, this is the first time I have run this year, OMG this is my first run as a 34 year old! It’s for a great cause and I believe sometimes it’s fun to do something that scares you, something you feel like you can’t do, then when you achieve it you feel amazing! I will be dragging the kids along so they can see me finish and get in to the spirit of the day. Happy Mother’s Day for tomorrow in case I’m too exhausted to blog, doubt it!
