Nuffnang Blogopolis, OMG did I really just do that?
Saturday was a big day for this little Mummy Blogger, in fact I need another weekend to get over it and to restore law and order in my home. This little blogger went to her first blogging conference, and what an experience it was let me tell you!
Ok so here’s where it gets funny, I was at the traffic lights outside the hotel, and who is standing next to me, none other than Kat from The Organised Housewife! Now let me just explain for those of you who don’t know, she is the Oprah of blogging, yep, and there she was. I went stupid, got star struck and couldn’t bring myself to say anything really. Then I spent Friday night kicking myself that I didn’t say hi, I started to doubt my social butterfly abilities that is needed for this blogging community and started to fret.
Then the morning came around, you had to be there for registration at 8am, and who gets in the lift with me, hello The Organised Housewife!! ‘Breathe it’s going to be ok’. Again words fail me and I am left standing there trying not to stare! We arrive at the floor of the conference and my apparent accidental stroking pays off when she says hello to me! We chat and introduce ourselves I tell her I love her she asks what my blog is, get this she says, “Oh I like your blog”, ahhhh!! OMG she knows my blog! This blog!
After that I go and collect my name tag and check in. I am still in awe, but then it occurs I know absolutely no one in this entire room, look at everyone mingling. I don’t have a social butterfly gene I just don’t, I am shy, I am 15 again, really what am I doing at a bloggers conference? And I had the longest half an hour of my life sitting at the stool by a grand piano freaking out asking myself what the hell am I even doing here? Fighting back tears I pick up my bag and force myself to go to the loo, get my shit together and go back out there.
As I am walking toward the huge conference room Kat walks up to me and says “Renee I was looking for you, we have a table at the front and I thought you would like to sit with us” OMG hello is this really happening? Yep it happened. She made my day, by taking me under her wing I felt so out of my depth.
The day started with high tea, not something this little Army chick has had much experience with let me tell you, but I loved none the less. I even got to met Katrina from the Block another great blogger. I was like a teen at a concert, meeting all my favs! As the day went on I warmed up to the idea that I did in fact deserve to be there at the bloggers conference and that I am a blogger and shit I am going to own it!
It was really good, to meet so many other bloggers and to see how some of them have made a living out of it. I learnt how much I don’t know and I have a lot of homework to do and lots of research if I want to keep up. My problem is I don’t do things in halves, if I do something it’s all or nothing, and I want to give this little blog my all. I want to again push my message to all you Yummy Mummies, if there is something you want to do just do it, don’t listen to the little voice in your head all the time because sometimes she gets it wrong. Blogging conference ticked of my to do list!

Hey Jane, you will love it! Hope you do get to go to one! R
Hello, I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now and LOVE it. Can’t believe you were starstruck because a lot of us would be starstruck to meet YOU! 🙂 I haven’t commented before but wanted to let u know your blog is so funny, motivating, empowering and honest. It’s so different to other mummy blogs and that’s what I love about it the most, it’s just so honest and you make me laugh every post. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks Kath for you kind words, my fav comment ever! x R
Yeah you deserved to be there! The thing about bloggers is that they are a friendly, social bunch. I was at a conference in America last year (3000 bloggers) of which i knew 3. SO i would just and plonk myself down with a group of strangers and within ten seconds new everything about them!
Loved your post xx
Thank you! x R
I’ve been reading through the long list of linked blogs on Nuffnang, and yours is the first (after many) that I connected with. Reading along I wanted to give you a hug, and reassure you that you do belong. And yes being awe struck is so annoying isn’t it. Been there. Great read. thank you.
Ha ha! Thanks for reading! Blush! x R
