I have always considered buying a Dyson but the price always put me off, however when I look back I have easily spent $600+ on vacuum cleaners over the years buying cheap ones along the way.
Six weeks ago my latest vacuum cleaner died and I refused to buy a new one. I must have whinged that much on the phone that even from a different country my husband ordered me a Dyson and it arrived in a big box last week. So I now had no excuses but to vacuum and OMG thank goodness I did, little did I know I was living in a sand pit! Boy can this think suck! I thought I’d share my thoughts on here as buying a Dyson is every house wife’s dream (not) but they are an expense that you are probably tossing up if you need it or just want it, maybe you need it.
We now have an upright type, which I thought would be great but it is really quite heavy and back breaking after a while. If I was pregnant or unfit I think I may struggle with it. However the stuff this thing sucked up off what looked like a clean floor, sorry kids, was amazingly disgusting. Had to take a pic to show you, yes I am disgusting, this is what was on my floors and carpets ewww who knew?
My review would read heavy to push in fact quite hard work, but worth the effort for not lugging around a vacuum cleaner behind you and the cleaning ability as expected made the carpets look like new and the floors clean and fresh. Obviously not a paid review, just me sharing my thoughts on one expensive little sucker, verdict: worth it.

Yes, def get a Dyson. From a reluctant cleaner these things are as close as you will get to vacumn nirvana. Seeing all that mess swirling around is quite cathartic.

After many years of different inferior vacuum cleaners, Dyson is the BEST! 🙂

We have a Dyson red. We bought it after having a Kirby for many years. My Wife didn’t like the Kirby because it was too heavy (which it was) when vacuuming stairs and in general. It was also quite a lot more expensive than the Dyson. As the person that does virtually all the vacuuming, I’d have to say that I totally hate the Dyson. It doesn’t live up to its hype. It is the most inconvenient of vacuum cleaners – it doesn’t follow you around curves (as advertised) – it goes in a straight line and the wheels get caught on doors and door-frames. It’s suction catches every annoying think lying anywhere near eg shoe laces, cables, leads etc but will blow small, light items out of the way and will get stuck if even a small piece of paper is picked up. The hose and the chord make it unwieldy and for the price, its made very cheaply ie plastic. The Dyson is the very worst Vacuum Cleaner I’ve ever owned and I’ve been using them for 40 years!
